2. Gail Borden Public Library

The Gail Borden Public Library is Elgin’s world-class library, a recipient of the National Medal for Museum and Library Services. The library is located downtown and now includes a new branch on Bowes Rd. near Highland Woods. The library regularly hosts incredible events and displays that are educational fun for all ages. (And the great news for Highland Woods residents—once you obtain a library card from the Ella Johnson Library in Hampshire, you are able to take advantage of the Gail Borden Library services.)
3. Elgin Symphony Orchestra

This professional orchestra is respected for exceptional performance, winning the “Orchestra of the Year” an unprecedented 3 times by the Illinois Council of Orchestras. The orchestra is now in its 64th season, hosting an impressive 25 concerts this year and drawing thousands of patrons from from nearly 100 communities throughout Northern Illinois.
4. Grand Victoria Casino
The Grand Victoria Casino boasts more than 1,100 exciting slots, a variety of Vegas-style table games, gaming promotions, giveaways and more. It also includes four extraordinary restaurants (including award-winning Buckinghams…and don’t get us started on the mouthwatering burgers at Prime).
5. Festival Park and the Riverwalk
Festival Park is located along the beautiful, newly renovated river walk in downtown Elgin. The park includes a playground, spray park splash pad (open in the summer), and an outdoor entertainment venue where the city hosts fun fairs, outdoor movie nights, and festivals. (Not to mention the Grand Victoria Casino Summer Concert Series, which fun throwback big names like Creedence Clearwater Revisited and this upcoming summer’s Heart and George Thorogood and the Destroyers.)
Not to mention all of the fun that comes with living 45 minutes away from the great City of Chicago, which has museums, sports, theatres, and entertainment galore.
