Chicago Bandits Swing Into Full Gear

bandits1The Chicago Bandits, Chicago’s professional softball team, provide a wonderful opportunity for families of Highland Woods to watch quality athleticism at its best. The National Pro Fastpitch season is well underway and the Chicago Bandits are sitting atop the standings. Bill Conroy and Bill Sokolis created the team in 2004, and since then the team’s ability and popularity have steadily risen. The Bandits were the NPF World Champions in 2008 and they have a good chance to win it all again in 2009.

Jenny Finch, an Olympic gold medalist, is the Bandits star pitcher, but she’s not the only talented player on the team. Stacy May took home the 2008 Player of the Year honors, and Rachel Folden was named the 2008 Rookie of the Year.

There is nowhere else to witness softball at this skill level in Chicago and the tickets are very affordable. Single game tickets sell for $8- $20 and season tickets are also available. The Bandits play at the beautiful Judson University Campus in Elgin, IL just off of Rt. 31 near I-90, making it even easier for residents of Highland Woods to come out and enjoy this exciting sport!
