Elgin ranked number 1 in 2013 housing starts in the Chicago Metropolitan area for 2013. This is according to Metrostudy, the nation’s leading provider of primary and secondary market information to the housing industry. Housing starts means the number of homes that started construction. Elgin started 299 homes and closed 247. And even better—Elgin was more than 25 percent higher than the the next town on the list, Naperville.
Elgin also issued 343 building permits for single family homes in 2013, which is 75 percent higher than in 2012.
Both housing starts and building permits are leading indicators of a strong market.
